Reporting to the Finance Director, you will participate in managing the accounting and financial operations of our manufacturing company. You will contribute to financial closing activities, results analysis, as well as manufacturing cost tracking and operational profitability.

Role and responsibilities of the Cost Accounting Specialist:

You will act as a financial partner alongside production and operations teams to ensure the accuracy of financial data and the continuous improvement of processes.

Manufacturing Analysis and Cost Accounting

  • Participate in maintaining and validating standard product costs.
  • Analyze production, raw material, labor, and efficiency variances.
  • Monitor inventory and required adjustments.
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and operations teams to ensure the accuracy of manufacturing data.
  • Participate in margin and profitability analysis by product, project, or customer.
  • Contribute to the improvement of manufacturing performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Participate in physical inventory counts and inventory variance analyses.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and cost optimization efforts.

Accounting and Financial Reporting

  • Participate in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare various month-end journal entries.
  • Participate in the monthly and annual closing process.
  • Produce various financial reports and analyses for management.
  • Participate in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Support external audits and government requests.
  • Contribute to the improvement of internal controls and accounting processes.

Required qualifications for our Cost Accounting Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA designation (completed or in progress) – an asset.
  • 3 to 7 years of accounting experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of the full accounting cycle.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting principles.
  • Experience with manufacturing ERP system.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is required for this position due to regular interactions with English-speaking suppliers, partners, and stakeholders as part of the company’s manufacturing and financial operations.
